How Salon Owners Can Improve Their Business

POINTS TO THINK ABOUT AS A SALON OWNER

The role a salon owner plays is at the core of the business. She holds together the system & runs the show too.

But there are few things that lie core to the working of business & how by looking into these matters can one improve their business.

Below are a list of 6 things that a salon owner can focus on that will help improve her business.

As A Salon Owner - Focus on

Look & Feel Good.

The business is about making other people feel & look good about themselves. And how can others trust you if you are not looking & feeling good yourself. So the first thing to gain the client's trust is to get them to trust you that you can deliver what they want. Styling skills will be seen later, first what is seen are the stylists. Therefore, it's quite important that as the salon owner you take care of the employees - about how they look, their uniform, the way they greet the customers, feel energetic throughout the day, etc.

Tackle the Finance

Paying bills, minimizing cost, fixing the procurement costs, paying salary, managing taxes, saving and much more. All this includes dealing with money & having a fair knowledge about finance. As a salon owner managing salon finances is another most important department that one has to look into. Most of the time it is better to delegate these roles to people who hold experience in this department so that you can focus on other daily activities.

Manage Staff

In today's time, the most difficult thing is managing human resources. And the beauty industry is all about the service, the service rendered by one human to another. Therefore, building the connection is all about staff management. This means to not only give them a thriving work environment, but making sure that all the employees are working in harmony. Therefore, the best thing to do here is to hire smart people. Get people on board who are passionate about beauty, who love interacting with people, who are outgoing, smiling & dedicated. This is important as you as the salon owner can't be everywhere therefore, the right team will make it easier for you to carry out the daily process smoothly, effectively & efficiently.

Remember your customer

Always keep a track of your customers - information like name, email, contact details must be handy. What are the services that they usually opt for, how did they like your last service, how often do they visit the salon, etc. As a salon owner, you must have the data for all these questions. A strong database surely comes as a savior for many purposes. You can use it for your promotional activities, send occasional greeting messages, launch offers, etc.

And nothing can flatter a client than someone calling them with their name when they re-visit you.

A good salon owner definitely knows that a loyal client base is the best blessing a business can have.

Work on the review

It's well said that feedback is the food for improvement. Whatever It can be in the form of  review, comments, ideas, feedback or something else. Make note of these, and regularly work on them. The good ones as well as the bad ones. Try to improve on the bad ones. Address them, then plan how you can improve them. As a salon owner you can discuss the review with your team & come up with ideas & plans to better the bad review & maintain the good reviews.

Manage the inventory, appointments

Salon service works on mostly appointments, pre booked schedule. Therefore managing the stock inventory, managing the time, fixing the stylist, all needs to be pre worked. From seeing if the inventory is stocked up, are enough employees available. Do you need to hire more or change the distributor or add new equipment, etc. these are few decisions that as a salon owner you will have to take frequently. Therefore, one thing you should on a regular basis do is audit. Take time to audit how your business is running & what else you can do.

In the end I would like to suggest you to start with one area of your business. Try to implement at least one point mentioned in here & share with us the difference it created in your business.

Will you?
